
LEO BRECKENRIDGE
Engineer, actor, writer, spoken word artist, host; are all titles Leo Breckenridge wears interchangeably. These titles coupled with his journey through life; cause Leo to define himself simply as an artist.
Hailing from the Tidewater area of Virginia by way of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, Leo earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science Engineering from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical University in Greensboro, NC. There he held positions such as SGA class president (twice consecutively), SGA Attorney General, and President of the Council of Presidents. Additionally, he also became a 2006 initiate into the Zeta Chapter of the Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. and in 2008 was named Eastern Region Brother of the Year.
Performance art in general, and acting in particular, has served as a way to turn many personal struggles, ranging from one parent's substance addiction to the other parent's suicide, into strength gained to bring passion to his execution.
As an actor Leo has executed diverse roles through the mediums of stage and film. For instance, on stage, Leo has played 'Emmett Till' under the direction of three time Tony award winner Hinton Battle, in the critically acclaimed production "Anne & Emmett"; about an imaginary meeting between Anne Frank & Emmett Till. In film, he has executed roles like 'The Duke' in the award winning short film "U Street, DC", and 'Andre', in the 2013 New York Television Festival (NYTVF) official selection, "Very Smart Brothas: The Pilot", based on the popular blog “VerySmartBrothas.com”.
While his most recent hosting experiences boasts of events like the 100 Black Men Of Orange County’s 18th Annual Awards Gala (2014), as well as the 2013 MERGE Summit "Freedom Concert" featuring Mali Music, currently, he is the resident host of "Mini Cinema: The Short Film Experience"; the bi-monthly screening tasked to introduce everyday movie goers to praise worthy short films.
